The cold press Lot Eight ‘Aromatic olive oil’ is a sweet-smelling delicate blend referred to as a ‘Turkish Delight’ oil, which is created with all things sweet in mind. Using our fresh olives and only the finest ingredients like whole vanilla pods and estate-grown saffron, the ‘Aromatic Oil’ deserves its place as a premium condiment and a perfect treat.
Chefs use this oil in sweet and savoury dishes whilst at Lot Eight, we use it in dishes like baked stone fruits, rice pudding, cakes and smoothies.
How to Use
This is another of our favourite oils, for it adds a dimension to any dish and elevates it to another level. A tablespoon added to your breakfast cereal, fruit juice or smoothie should provide the health benefits of extra virgin olive oil.
In muffins or other bakery treats, replace some butter with this aromatic oil for a delicate taste. The perfume of the vanilla and saffron will excite your senses.
The sweet notes of this oil come to life when used in desserts, so try adding with a chia pudding and fruit or add to biscuits and crumble through to give another dimension when presented in a glass showing the layers.
Many chefs around the world love a flourless orange and almond cake, made popular by food-writer Claudia Roden, whilst dense in texture, it is light and flavoursome for afternoon tea or dessert. The addition of ¼ cup Aromatic Olive Oil will elevate this cake into a very special treat for your family. Decorate with a light icing of ¼ cup orange juice, 1 ½ cups icing sugar, a little Aromatic olive oil and 2 tbsp of hot water, a little at a time, to make a smooth icing to drizzle on the cake. If you have any purple violets or pansy’s in the garden, decorate the cake or plate with a few sprinkled around.
Roast a combination of nuts tossed in a little Aromatic Olive Oil and bake slowly in the oven. Sprinkle a little castor sugar once they come out of the oven and toss well. Allow to dry and these make a great accompaniment to a dessert or just enjoy as a nice snack.
Combine crushed halva with ice-cream and mix well, adding Turkish delight finely chopped with ½ cup of honey and ¼ cup Aromatic Olive Oil. Mix well but not too smooth and pour into freezer trays. Scoop ice cream into bowls and add a few drops of Aromatic Olive Oil before serving.
