Here’s why Ortiz anchovies are a firm favourite here. Otiz tell us that once their anchovies have fully matured, they manually fillet the anchovies one by one using a knife, and then pack them carefully by hand in olive oil. Thanks to this meticulous preparation process, the anchovies have a excellent texture and intense flavour. At Lot Eight, there is no justification required to eat them. We absolutely love them. If you need some help with using this product, here’s a firm favourite. Try our oil maker’s choice of an open sandwich with thick slices of grilled sourdough bread rubbed with garlic and drizzled with Lot Eight Reserve Olive Oil while the bread is still hot, topped with grilled capsicum, ripe juicy tomatoes, basil, 2-3 fillets of anchovies, dash of sea salt, freshly ground black pepper and finished with a generous drizzle of Lot Eight Citrus Olive Oil. If you like your pasta, try a simple combination of Lot Eight Reserve Olive Oil, chili, garlic, anchovies and basil or Italian parsley. Toss well and serve. Anchovies are also fantastic in spaghetti Bolognese, so good that even a non-anchovy loving person will lick the plate. Add a few fillets to some crushed garlic and salt, mix well to create a pesto like texture and add to the hot oil before adding the meat and tomato sauce.
